SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual therapy gives you an opportunity to slow down and talk about your experiences with a trained professional who is invested in your relationship. It is helpful to talk through whatever is on your mind, but therapy can also be quite playful, somatic, or expressive, depending on your needs.

CHILD THERAPY

Children are little people living in a big world that can often seem scary or overwhelming. Play therapy is a research-supported practice that helps children develop social skills and emotional well-being. This experience gives children an opportunity to express their worries, thoughts, and feelings in a safe and supportive atmosphere. During play therapy, the therapist can provide insight to help parents meet their children's emotional and developmental needs.

COUPLES THERAPY

Long-lasting relationships all change over time, but that change can be difficult. Creating and maintaining intimacy requires healthy conflict and communication. In couples therapy, I focus on emotional awareness, communication styles, and life history to help a partnership recognize the harmful patterns they fall into and create new ones in their place. Perhaps that means re-developing that missing or inconsistent sense of togetherness and love, or simply finding a way for both partners to understand one another's needs and help meet them.

SPECIALTIES

We may still be a good fit to work together even if you do not see yourself described below.
EMOTIONAL AWARENESS

Joy, anger, fear, sadness, disgust, and everything in between: some we crave, some we avoid, and others we overdo. Each person feels their emotions in their own way. Therapy can help bring an understanding of your emotional patterns in order to live a more intentional life with more social connection.

ANXIETY

Do worries take up a large part of your mental energy? Do you find yourself repeating the same plans, thoughts, or behaviors excessively? Does it feel like your mind and body are running on "high alert?" Therapy can help you slow down, reflect, and get to the root of these worries in order to free your mind for all the other things you'd rather engage with.

FAMILY & RELATIONSHIP HISTORY

We don't get to choose our families. Our parents, caregivers, and immediate family are the most influential people in our young lives, for better or worse. Often, the intensity of these relationships requires some reflection and boundary-making as we age. Therapy can help individuals process the light and dark sides of the people around them in order to create an intentional, adult life moving forward.

PARENTING DIFFICULTIES

Is your child struggling? Is their behavior hard to predict? Is parenting draining your energy? Therapy can help bridge the gap between parent and child. The child can express their worries, concerns, and needs in a safe and supportive space. Meanwhile, the parents can process their own struggles and learn how to effectively meet their children's emotional needs.

STRESS & WELL-BEING

Our roles, relationships, and responsibilities pull us in many directions. When the pulls become too strong, it can be overwhelming, and our bodies respond with stress hormones. While small amounts of stress can be helpful to activate us in the moment, chronic stress is harmful to our mental and physical health. Therapy can help individuals explore and identify the sources and patterns of their stress. Therapy can also help clients reach a place of acceptance or spark the motivation to make a change.

TRAUMA

Life is full of obstacles that negatively impact our well-being. When the emotional harm lasts well beyond the event itself, that's called trauma -- the Greek word for "wound." While it may feel like we can never overcome our traumas, wounds can heal over time. Therapy can give an individual the sense of support and safety needed to reflect on the most difficult experiences and relationships in order to heal the wounds around them.
